Galveston is a city and port in Southeastern Texas, United States.
Located at the northeast end of the Galveston Island from the Gulf of Mexico, it was the pirate’s Jean Laffite headquarters. Then the first settlements on the island were established, including the city of Galveston.
If you want to learn more about the history of this port city, you can visit the Strand Historic District, the Moody Mansion and Museum, the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Seaport Museum, the Lone Star Flight Museum and the Bishop’s Palace.
In case you are a nature loving person, Galveston offers you the Moody Gardens, the Seawall, the Seawolf Park, the Galveston and East Beach. An impressive place to see is the Galveston Hurricane Memorial.
For fun and entertainment, the city’s Downtown area is most preferred. That is where, during the evening and sometimes all the night, the party people gather for a good time. This area gives life to the entire Galveston especially in the warm months.
There are thing to do during cold months too, such as going shopping and drinking the best coffee you ever had at a café of your choice. The crowd will be missing, but except that, everything will be the same.
Overall Galveston is worthy of a visit even if it is not a metropolitan city. If you are interested in cruises from Galveston, you can spend some time in the city before or after the cruise.
